The Gentlemen: Matthew McConaughey is a marijuana dealer in the new Guy Ritchie

Guy Ritchie returns to his favorite genre, the thriller set in the London underworld, with The Gentlemen. A film that presents its first trailer in which Matthew McConaughey embodies Mickey Pearson, a marijuana dealer based in London. Hush Grant, Charlie Hunnam and Henry Golding complete the production cast.

The trailer begins with a conversation between Pearson, his confidant played by Charlie Hunnam, and a third character named Fletcher, who raises, as if he were the narrator himself, the beginning of the plot: a mysterious antagonist (Henry Golding) has an offer for Pearson and his drug business.

From there, a succession of action images augur a thrilling and rhythmic production, which could continue the legacy of old Guy Ritchie films such as Snatch (2000) or RocknRolla (2008). "The plot starts to get complicated," Fletcher tells Hunnam in the trailer. "Our antagonist entered the scene as an ancient firework, and now, indirectly, has started a war."

The film also has the work of Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan or Colin Farrell. The Gentlemen will be released in US theaters on January 24, 2020.
